Yes I think they have too much bass and the socks in the vents prevents the bass reflex mechanism from working. I know/guess that this might have side effects, e.g. a carefully designed bass reflex system can produce lower frequencies than the drives themselves are capable of. But I don't think the A5's are that finely tuned to begin with.
