I have two squeeze boxes linked to a qnap ts-201 and am considering a transporter. But I'm not sure whether it's a wise move.
Twonkymedia currently supports FLAC by converting it to WAV and there currently exist some good quality receivers like Denon AVR4306 or Yamaha RX-V2700 which can be used as DLNA clients. I'm certain that more hi-fi audiophile devices compatible with DLNA will come out soon. It seems to me that Slim Devices still keeps its own direction of development. Slimserver has many great features and add-ons, but sound quaility depends on the hardware (squeezebox or Transporter). Has anybody compared the sound quality between qnap (or other servers)+SB3 (or Transporter) and qnap + Denon AVR4306 or Yamaha RX-V2700? Since Transpoter is a kind of pre-amp, it may be hard to tell. But what if Rotel or Parasound adds DLNA to its $1500-$2000 pre-amps? Can Transporter still competes with them? Please tell me your opinions. Thanks. -- smarco ------------------------------------------------------------------------ smarco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12178 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39550 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
