It has already started. Have a look at the Arcam FMJ MS250 probebly close to 5000 dollar. Here in the Netherlands it costs 4500 euro. http://www.arcam.co.uk/prod_fmj_ms250_intro.cfm
Regarding DLNA. Before a bought my transporter I've considered buying a Denon AVR4306 when it first came out. I was giving the ability to test one at home for a few days. First of all the whole DNLA concept is nothing more than a protocol to share a folder on your PC which contains music files and to identify your player on the network, That’s it! Especially when one has a considerable large music collection it’s just undoable to work with it. I really tried to get the hang of it but after four days I gave up. To me DNLA concept is to limited to see the player as a full fletched music server. How different is Slimdevices approach. Immediately I felled right at home with the interface. For now Slimdevices is the only one that offers this level of usability. Regarding audio quality: The Denon at the time didn’t support Flac. However WAV’s sounded good, but what else is to be expected from a 2000 dollar amp. However I strongly believe my Transporter sounds considerably better. How well the transporter will perform next to the Arcam for example will hopefully be tested in the future. One thing I know for sure though. I won’t consider any DNLA player above my Transporter even if it said Mark Levinson on the case. -- S2K ------------------------------------------------------------------------ S2K's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12675 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39550 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
