Packet loss in data transmission is common, and is merely an issue when
the application is not loss tolerant. In a business network, you'll
probably want to prioritize critical business flows over streaming
audio and youtube :-) TCP/IP typically corrects packet loss, or you'll
know. UDP doesn't, it leaves that to protocols above.

All in all, packet retransmisson and error recovery are a matter of the
right design in the protocol stack.

It surprises most people to hear that data networks regard voice
connections as quite loss tolerant. You hear some clipping, big deal,
the other person will repeat the sentence if the listener thinks it's
worth it. :-) Luckily audio doesn't use that path in our SB setups. But
would I say the connection between the SS and the SB never loses
packets? I think some reports herte attest it's not qwuite the case and
that it naturally depends on the quality of the connection. However, I
think data corruption is extremely rare - very improbable, but
possible, and not critical for the aplication all in all.
