This is not what I expected to say but... Since I installed 0.9.27 of Inguz I re-measured my room. This time my technique was better. Still I used the Stereophile disc and the RS SPL meter. But this time I measured each speaker separately, pointed the meter toward the speaker each time and *applied the RS SPL meter calibrations* as instructed here: http://www.subwoofer-builder.com/SPL-corrections.htm
I have to say the reservations I had about the EQ in general have gone away for the moment. Before I was getting tizz in the mid-range which, over time, was very unmusical. Now I am getting amazing sound. Also, I think it's important to measure and apply the corrections and leave it at that. By all means measure again afterwards but don't then adjust the settings again to get it nearer to flat. I think the room nulls especially can't be fixed that way, and trying to push it further where it doesn't want to go is counter-productive. See the old and new FR here: http://www.yeats.co.uk/public/Audio/fr3.jpg. The improvement sounds as good as it looks...spectacular.
