You are comparing a music streamer (Transporter) that has minimial receiver-like functions with an AV receiver (Denon) that happens to have some minimal music-streamer-like functions. It's not a meaningful "either/or" comparison.
I would suggest getting the right receiver for your needs, ignoring any network streaming functions they might have, because, not to put too fine a point on it, they all rather suck at it. By the same token, if you need the functions of a true surround AV receiver, you can discount Transporter's ability to function as a multi-input DAC, because it's really not meant to be a receiver for your DVD player, satellite, etc. Transporter's inputs are intended for using it as a high-end DAC in a 2-channel system. Long story short: get the right receiver and then, if cost constrained, go ahead and downgrade Transporter to an SB3 if you want. But you will be very sad if you go to only having the Denon's built-in streaming. PS: as a receiver I think the Denon's specs look quite good, and in fact I would have gone with one in my own system except that my cabinets were too shallow. -- seanadams ------------------------------------------------------------------------ seanadams's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40078 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
