Jack of all trades, master of none... Err, this is not to say that it's not a nice unit, I'm sure it is, but for quite some time now I would much rather have separate units doing dedicated tasks very well rather than all-in-ones that do their tasks passably (and if they don't do a task well at all, it's not like you can remove it and upgrade it.) I'd have separates if the budget allowed it. It does not. And I do currently own and have bought many receivers over the years. They're not bad and if you look around you can find some very good ones - for example the Marantz 8400 I now have sounds very, very good. But if it were up to me I'd break everything out into a pre-pro with a true analog bypass like the Bryston SP 2 along with beefy amps, monoblocks if at all possible (again Bryston fits the bill here). -- Mark Lanctot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40078 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
