So do we really want the ultimate quality?  I reckon (shoot me down!)
that Slim Devices would not find it impossible to develop a 'paired
Squeezebox' solution that had more than one (different) digital output
for each channel - a high frequency and a low frequency one.  You then
feed each side through a stereo amp, and then to a two-way speaker. 
True digital active, a la Meridian.

With an Inguz-like system of EQ, it should not be beyond the realms of
possibility to match the levels and have a good digital crossover,
designed specifically for your own room.

The only difficulty at the moment is the simple issue of syncing two
SBs - it would have to be perfect.  However, if it's a one-box
solution, it must be pretty easy.

Only one display and wifi card, so surely it can all be done for under
$500 - I'd buy one for twice that!  What's not to love?
