Yes, why are we splitting hairs about a codec that's broken by design?

MP3s will always have artifacts, even if it's audible under extreme
circumstances with MP3 codec A and inaudible under the same
circumstances (but likely audible under different circumstances) with
MP3 codec B.

Answer: use lossless if hearing noise at -90 dB is an issue.
