I'll pick option one. Really.

I've always liked music when it was on and had cds for the car, but was
never a music lover.

That is until I went to buy a HT setup and happened across an arcam on
focals. I have no idea what I've been listening to all my life - sound
maybe - but not music. I immediately wanted to shut down all the
surrounds and listen to 2channel.

Yes, I'm buying the squeezebox for convenience, but I'm also trying to
build the system I heard on a budget. Cambridge instead of Arcam,
Bostons instead of Focal, squeezebox instead of a 2k transport.

Oh, I'll get my system eventually, but I'd rather listen to Lyle Lovett
(and did!!) on repeat - pulling out the layers and subtleties - than
plop in my "goto" bands. Lyle is now in my library, and if I had that
dream system, so would many other musicians I thought I hated.
