I think it goes hand-in-glove that someone who loves something will
tend to accumulate material related to their hobby over time.

"Quality" is also a complicated term. I have some high quality
recordings with good sonics that aren't particularly exception from a
musical standpoint. Some of the Sheffield recordings come to mind. I
also have some recordings where I love the music and love the
performance but find the audio quality mediocre or worse.

All of that has a place in my collection. In fact, that is the one
thing I love about the Squeezebox. I have easy access to a very large
collection (about 20,000 songs, well tagged) and I can enjoy any item
from it without undertaking the massive search I used to face when
everything was still CD, LP or open reel.

But, to the original question, I've got feet in both camps. I like high
quality sound and enjoy tinkering with and improving my system, but it
is also very important to me that I have a wide range of material to
play and enjoy. However, if I had to make a sacrifice, it would be to
keep the material and downgrade the system.
