There's a difference, but it's not always easy to hear it on some music. I could live with a high-bitrate mp3 collection if I had to, but then no matter how much I was enjoying my Squeezebox, I'd be bothered by the constant awareness that I've got a better version of this music in my CD rack. Using FLAC eliminates that issue.
