Maybe, in effect, that's what APLHiFi are doing. Given that they're stacking DAC chips and including a new single ended analogue output stage (stated as disabling the XLR output), to me that reads like a new DAC board being fed from the digital section of the original Transporter PCB and bypassing the rest of the original circuitry. Pretty much the same as Patrick Dixon is doing with the SB+, but based on a transporter rather than an SB3. An expensive donor using the Transporter but his comments on it being a good design with Jung regulators may be the reason why he's chosen it in favour of the SB3. Pure speculation of course!
