Here are my expeirences with the science of ripping and getting the 1
and o stuff onto your drive in a file that is as close to perfection as
possible... and I should point out this is based on a painful learning
experience, since my earilier rips have proven to be compromised and I
hace to re-rip about 100 CDs now that showed a variety of MD5 (FLAC),
and truncated and synch errors (320k MP3s)...

1. Avoid Windows Media Player and Winamp as ripping tools. The first
recommendation will find acclaim, the second one will be met with
criticism since it is a relatively popular choice. But it signs
responsible for the MD5-compromised FLAC rips in my library,
uncomrpimisngly...

2. Get a good good drive, replace it every 1,000 rips. I have used 2
Plextor drives in the process of ripping about 2,000 CDs

3. Get ripping software with a very decure mode. I use dBpoweramp, and
ever since I have done so I have not had a single rip afflicted by bit
errors. Others swear by EAC.
