This is a conversation which has been done many times before, suggest you read over some old threads :) The upshot is yes, resolution is (eventually) lost. There are ways of minimising this (for example using the TP's output attenuators if you frequently listen at a low level). However the real question is if the loss of resolution is actually audible, and whether it's more audible than the distortion introduced by the alternative (an analogue volume control). My personal view is I want everything digital as far as possible through the chain and then have the analogue section do as little as possible. If I could install an SPDIF (plus clock output!) in the side of my head that would be great :) The real answer, as usual, is down to your setup, your ears, your music and your preferences. -- radish ------------------------------------------------------------------------ radish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=77 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42957 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
