I concur with some of the other thoughts here. Here's what I'd do if I was CEO for a day:
1. drop the displays 2. drop the buttons and haptic knob 3. drop the case, sub in plastic, shielded only as much as necessary (there has got to be a lot of cost in short run aluminum case fab) 4. use the same circuit board, minus the display logic on the ribbon cable running to the display/controls, reduce r+d costs and mfr ramp up time (this obviously may not be technically feasible) All of these done in the name of reducing cost: I think the target should be sub 1k US? A price range that would get me personally interested. (Think about what the average "pro-sumer" spends on a nice mid-level DSLR, there seems to be a budget corollary there.) Call it Transporter Jr. or SB Receiver++, and leave the Transporter as is. Of course, I have no idea how the math works out, which ultimately determines the feasibility of a device like this. -- Super-Gonzo ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Super-Gonzo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=190 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43466 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
