I concur with some of the other thoughts here. Here's what I'd do if I
was CEO for a day:

1. drop the displays

2. drop the buttons and haptic knob

3. drop the case, sub in plastic, shielded only as much as necessary
(there has got to be a lot of cost in short run aluminum case fab)

4. use the same circuit board, minus the display logic on the ribbon
cable running to the display/controls, reduce r+d costs and mfr ramp up
time (this obviously may not be technically feasible)

All of these done in the name of reducing cost: I think the target
should be sub 1k US? A price range that would get me personally
interested. (Think about what the average "pro-sumer" spends on a nice
mid-level DSLR, there seems to be a budget corollary there.)

Call it Transporter Jr. or SB Receiver++, and leave the Transporter as
is. Of course, I have no idea how the math works out, which ultimately
determines the feasibility of a device like this.
