I have been experimenting with various types of connections to/from my Transporter and stumbled upon a strange thing. By accident I have tried a power cord without a ground connected and I got more dynamic and cleaner (not brighter sound) than with a normal grounded cord. The effect is not subtle and is the same using either AES or optical glass spdif.
The Transporter is connected via wired ethernet to a pc. I take its digital output and feed it into Benchmark DAC1. I use HD650 headphones directly from DAC1 to test .Both devices are on one dedicated circuit and not connected to anything else. Has anyone experienced similar behavior? Could it be some ground loop from ethernet?
