According to Stereophile's 15 year old review, back then they cost $1995/pair With inflation, shouldn't you be looking at $3000 speakers? Electro statics do have the placement/room interaction 'feature' Now $1000 a pair is the sweet spot in the market, there are tons of products there, many very good, perhaps even great the way few audiophile could imagine 20 years ago. But none of the coned speakers costing about a grand are going to have the magic of 'stats. They are likely to have much better WAF, and other good things.
