Well, just downloaded and played my first Linn recording - La Guitarra Española - The Music of Santiago de Murcia - William Carter
Default file was a 24/88 and I've loaded this, and a downsampled 24/44 (using Audacity 1.3) onto my NAS. Played both without problem over my SB3 and I'm struggling to find much difference. If anything, the 88 file seems slightly better with low level ambience (eg the guitar body resonances seem to carry on for longer) and the 44 file a tad more dynamic. That said the recording is first rate, albeit there is noticeable low frequency (tape ?) / microphone hiss and very low frequency rumble / stage echoes to my mind (passing traffic noise intruding ?). Now, if only Linn carried a greater range of music !
