You say you always have the Squeezebox volume at 100%. You probably do
that for the same reason a lot of others believe it's the way to get
best quality. But there are reasons why such belief is mistaken. I
won't reiterate them here - try searching the forums where you will
find lots of threads that discuss the issue.

Try setting the volume on your Nait so that with the volume on the
Squeezebox at 100% the music is as loud as you'll ever want. Now
control day-to-day listening levels with the Squeezebox volume. Try to
keep an open mind about what you expect to hear. It's a simple
experiment, you have nothing to lose, and it might just be a simple
solution to your dilemma.
