OK, then it's much more than a first impression, sorry =:-O Please don't take this the wrong way, I seriously respect you and your findings :-)) Now, I'm a bit of the devil's advocate. there are some products working well together, and some that are not. The thing that the Akurate works much better in your system doesn't necessarily mean that it's way better, it means it works way better in your system. As an example: You could try the German T+A high end cd player, these are fantastic high-end products and they work well with many product lines, but if you try to connect it to a Krell amp it just plainly doesn't work. I don't know why but this has something with that the T+A is genuinely unbalanced and the Krell is genuinely balanced and something crashes along the way.... and I'm not the only one stating that I don't trust reviewers, but still..... One of the reasons I'm sceptic is that John Atkinson claims that the transporter is very very close to his Mark Levinson all time reference, something that also goes for the Klimax DS. I don't know the difference between the Akurate DS and Klimax DS. But the thing that the Akurate DS works way better for you is very very interesting, and means that it's nice to some people, but not for me, because I want to do DSP based room correction and DSP based X-overs and that makes the Linn products unworkable unfortunately, because there's no digital out. Akurate DS = Not flexible enough to me It may work fine for you and that's fine but it's certainly not a product for everyone because of the inherent lack of flexibility. The missing option of performing DSP based processing is so significant to me that I would never ever consider such a product.
