I probably shouldnt place this in the audiophile section, but anyway. I mostly listen to radio, its music I dont have myself, and you never know what they will play next. I wonder about the quality of radiostations, what determines quality? My knowledge about how a radiostation works is limited, but I see people are interested in the higher bitrate stations, but does this determine quality alone ? One radiostation that uses a 96 kHz converter (?) and broadcast with 96 kbps can sound a lot better than one that has an unknown converter and broadcast at 256 kbps I would assume. I see people asking for recommendations to radiostations, and a lot listen to Radio Paradise, but how would you compare that station to this for instance : http://127.0.0.1:9000/songinfo.html?item=4995&player=00%3A04%3A20%3A07%3A39%3A93 Radio Time>Location>Europe>Norway>P4 radio Norway 98,3 (Top40) This is from the same station, but here they only play retro music :http://127.0.0.1:9000/songinfo.html?item=4729&player=00%3A04%3A20%3A07%3A39%3A93 This station, at least the prime channel I mentioned first, is said to have 96 kHz converter, and to me it has a detailed sound from top to bottom, especially the bass is good, but, to me it can be too bright, a bit "shout-like" on some material. (I realize they may play awful music at that moment you try and listen, but then try a bit later.) I think Radio Paradise at 128 kbps sounds a bit muffled and dark, but easier on the ears in comparison. This is also a retro station, from The Nederlands, http://127.0.0.1:9000/songinfo.html?item=4774&player=00%3A04%3A20%3A07%3A39%3A93 , at 192 kbps. Its actually the one I listen to most. Comments ?
