The digital input switching problem is solved in FW42; above that, the knob degaussing problem is solved in FW43.
Besides for music, I use my transporter for DVD-playing and sometimes for TV-watching (movie, music); my son sometimes uses the transporter with his XBox (when I'm not at home :-). So what you want is possible.
