Since you were not "paying attention", it is most likely your mind and ears playing tricks on you. The music was probably different (song changed) or any of 10,000 other things IE anything BUT turning the PC off. Good now that that is out of the way, if their "Really" is a change there are not to many things it could be. Defective (noisy) PC power supply, bad NIC, poor AC power or ground loop, and maybe any other path back to the audio room.
