You may have read that - so have I. However many years of practical
experience leads me to conclude that it all depends on the equipment at
either end (and especially at the DAC/amp end), local RFI/EMI/Grounding
etc. and also the actual implementation of these interfaces. For
example, some people swear that glass toslink is "better" than
plastic...however, I think they are just going on gut logic (glass must
be a better conductor of light)...

In some systems TOSLINK sounds "better" than any coax.

In particular I'd challenge any difference between AES/EBU and spdif
over 5 meters!

Oh - and you missed out ADAT Lightpipe :o)

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it
ain't what you'd call minimal...SB3+Stontronics PSU - Altmann
JISCO/UPCI - TACT RCS 2.2X with Good Vibrations S/W - MF X-DAC
V3/X-PSU/X-10 buffer (Audiocomm full mods)- Linn 5103 - Linn Aktiv 5.1
system (6x LK140's, ESPEK/TRIKAN/KATAN/SEIZMIK 10.5), Townsend
Supertweeters, Kimber & Chord cables
