I agree with that. The SB3 internal DAC isn’t bad at all. The
reason why I’m looking at an external DAC is simply because the
SB3’s VFD display inverter is inducing some “noise”
in the analog stage of the SB3. This could be solved by splitting the
internal power supply (analog and digital power supply). That alone
would make a world of difference.

Some people have mentioned the Transporter. I’m pretty sure that
device would satisfy my needs as well. And to be honest, I find myself
drooling sometimes when looking at it. Only thing is, I find it a bit
too expensive. The Transported is not 1700 Euro better than the SB3. If
I would spend about 1000 Euro on a DAC for the SB3, the total system
price would bring it to about 1300 Euro, which is still 700 Euro
cheaper than the Transporter.

As far as upgrading my speakers, well I don’t think there is any
HiFi speaker out there that would out perform the speakers I have. I
have MP Audio speakers http://www.mp-audio.be/ These are speakers for
professional use. The guy who design them is a quality freak. The bass
and mid range speakers are PHL, a French manufacturer. The tweeter is
MP Audio’s own design. The xover filters are completely custom
made. Even the coils are custom made. I have listened to a lot of
speakers in my life but I still have to find speakers that beat MP
Audio. The amplifiers I use are from the same manufacturer and are
completely hand made. I use a pair BSS360 xover between the top
cabinets and the bass.
