Vincent, Whereas you certainly can connect a TP (modded or stock) direct to your amplifier, understand in so doing you will decrease your Signal:Noise ratio at any point below 100% volume. You also lower bits from 24 bit at anything below 100%, which is not an issue with Redbook 16bit files above about 65% or so, but you still are attenuating the excellent S:N ratio of the TP even at 90% volume. All that being said, I have my TP direct wired for now and I am still amazed at how good it is. I can only imagine how much better it could be run through a good preamp. Since, like you, the TP is my only source at the moment, I am not going to get a preamp until I have a nice turntable or SACD/UD player with great analog out, or maybe until I have both.
