Thanks for the review summaries. TAS has long had a bad reputation among audiophiles as a magazine with little or no interest in providing any kind of scientific rigor to their reviews and I guess now we can also had editorial rigor to that list as well.
If, as you say, this review does help to put the Duet and other music servers on to the audiophile radar than how long will it be before we such things as: 1) High end, $1000 and up Cat 5 cables 2) High end external hard drives featuring gold plated disc and hand wound servo motors 3) Exact Audio Copy Deluxe, the $2,500 version which guarantees audiophile standard rips. and my personal favorite 4) The super deluxe air purification and ionization system which not only purifies the air in one's home but also properly aligns the ions to ensure one's WiFi network works up to only the highest audiophile standards. I could go on, but the list of the absurd tweaks/add-ons that will flow from the wells of the numerous snake oil salesmen out there is limited by my feeble imagination. However, I'm pretty sure that the air purification will be a big, big seller and will not seem all that absurd in light of all the other "music server" tweaks that are bound to appear. -- ralphpnj Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels -> Snatch -> The Transporter -> Transporter 2 'Last.fm' (http://www.last.fm/user/jazzfann/) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49614 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
