I thought all speakers except MBL's, German Physiks and some other exotics, were uni or duo directional... live music is omni-directional, and even omni-directional exotics dont come close... so how can you compare the sound of uni/duo speakers to live music? All speakers need to be positioned with precision to sound their best and the listener needs to be placed at a certain precise distance from the middle of both speakers to hear clarity, soundstage and focus. Down the hall a little way? really...? Although I must confess that Ive been fooled sometimes my some reproduced sounds (voice and some solo instruments)from my STAX SRS-4040II earspeaker system. And I attribute this by the openness and transparency of an electrostatic driver at less than two centimeters from my ear. Of course, 98% of the music I listen through this headphones sounds really, really good, but absolutely incomparable to live music. As I said before. Comparing live music to reproduced music talks of an absolute lack of ear, a fallacy, an improbability and a great way to market speakers. Live and reproduced music are two very different ways to feel and listen. -- GuyDebord Kharma Ceramique 3.2FE's wired with v/d Hul Inspiration. AMPS: Pathos Classic One MKIII's in mono config.
