Hi there, Let me start of by saying that I know that you get lotsa junk over your AC feed... put it on an oscilloscope and watch in horror. However, I don't understand why audiophiles act on this front the way they do, or may be I only read about a subset of solutions here in this forum.
I do believe that high-end audio has better internal PSU's than regular kit. But I also think it can be improved upon because the manufacturer is still a company with trying to make money as it's goal and nothing else. However, when the audiophile decides to improve, what do you do? Any form of conditioning, be it with plain conditioners or absurdly priced power-cords, means that the noisy feed is actually accepted as the base to work with. Why is that???!!!! I do -not- accept that. To be honest I must admit that I live on a sailboat and normally need to produce my own AC or I don't have it at all. But what I will propose here is absolutely possible and easy for use at home too. We have a big battery-bank. It's 12V DC and it's 1200Ah big. We charge it from many sources, incl. solar panels, alternators and just regular battery-chargers (run from an AC genset). We have 2 methods for making AC: running the diesel genset and using inverters. The AC from the diesel genset isn't too clean but AC from good inverters is! Also, the 12V DC is very clean as long as we don't pollute it ourselves. We use these power-sources for everything, not just audio. Anyone can put a couple of batteries in the house and use it for supplying power to high-end audio. There's two ways: using a good pure-sine inverter or, like for squeezebox, use a good DC-DC converter to reduce voltage to 5- or 9V. Both methods can be combined. This method is way more effective than buying suspiciously expensive conditioners/cords plus it's way cheaper. Why don't you do this? I can think that you wouldn't want these acid-spilling batteries in the house but you don't have to, you can get some nice gel-type or agm-type batteries that are 100% clean and maintenance-free. Also, I read that some of you use the networking-over-AC-outlets stuff. How can you do that???
