If you have a DAC with coax input which uses a transformer on that input, the shield from it's BNC input-connector should NOT be connected to the case or ground. You loose galvanic isolation that way and I would call it an engineering blunder. But on the transformer's -secondary- winding, one end will be connected to ground alright. It would be obvious when you see an insulated part on a metal case that holds the connector; or you measure with a DMM at resistance-setting between the BNC shield and the shield of a RCA analog output. There should be infinite resistance. When you have a DAC without the transformer on it's coax input, the connector-shield will probably be directly connected to ground. cheers, Nick. -- DeVerm ------------------------------------------------------------------------ DeVerm's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18104 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=52817 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
