All lossless formats sound the same. Flac is attractive because it allows embedded metadata (wav does not) and the squeezebox can decode it directly. Many other formats supported by squeezecenter are transcoded to wav or flac before sending it to the squeezebox. Some folks might use apple lossless for compatibility with itunes/ipod. But it will be transcoded by squeezecenter. If SqueezeCenter has to transcode you can forget using FastForward on the remote. Or at least it used to be a problem in 6.x days. -- mswlogo Thinkpad XP SS > Cat5 > Transporter > SPDIF-COAX > Meridian G68ADV (Trifield, Room corrected, Upsampled) > DSP6000 Mains, DSP5500HC Center, DSP33 Rears Dell > Cat5 > SB3 > SPDIF-COAX > DSP5000 MK-I Toshiba > Cat5 > SB3 > SPDIF-COAX > Meridian G91 -> DSP-5000 MK-II ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mswlogo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9090 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53344 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
