I do agree with both of you (Tom and Phil): on one hand, any serious 500-1500$ dac (like Lavry, Bechmark, or even the DacMagic) has 95% of what one can ask from a modern dac : accurate tonal balance, specialization and transparency.
Over this price tag, one can look for something more, a little bit more, and it becomes clearly a matter of taste whether the price/quality ratio is acceptable for each one of us. It's not accurate to say that a Lavry DA10 (1500$) is equivalent to a Lavry DA2002 (about 8000$) - no, they are far from being the same, although the DA10 has already 95% of a good dac. ;) -- Themis SB3 - North Star dac 192 - Denon 3808 - Sonus Faber Grand Piano Domus ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Themis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14700 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54622 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
