I would estimate the exact opposite happening, if anything happens at
all. Noise from CPU is often when it does high speed data transfers,
not calculations. As you have more data transfer when streaming wav, I
would think this would cause more noise than flac.

Another question is the CPU & clock design. If the clock is constant
(unlike mobile CPU's that can lower the clock on low-load conditions)
the noise from the clock is constant. Some simple CPU's spend their
idle time looping in an "idle-loop" which doesn't change a lot from
useful calculations although one might argue that it will only use some
registers and not external memory. Other CPU's have very efficient
wait-on-interrupt designs.
