I seem to recall this was one of the effects upgrading to a linear power sully in the SB3 helps address. The SB3 has a DAC that would have only been found in $1000+ CD players 10 years ago. I would use it for now if I was starting out in HiFi. I think the next few years will see amazing advances in powered speakers and DACs, which would suffice as the "rest of the chain" behind the "slim" front end device. Personally, I am keeping the SB3->Accuphase DAC->Accuphase amp-> speaker chain. The 3 latter elements I invested into nearly 10 years ago and they still sound great. So my next evolutionary step needs to be considered carefully, espacially given the way I see the market and my preferences evolving. I do think that in 5 years I will be listening to something like a next gen SB3 through either powered speakers or a headphone amp. And the latter part of the chain I have and will never need to upgrade unless it breaks. -- pablolie ...pablo Server: 3.3 GHz Intel E8600 Core 2 Duo Vista Ultimate 64 Sources: SB3 (4), SB Boom (2), Duet, Accuphase DP65v Amplification: Accuphase E306v Loudspeakers: Tuned and self-built Ceeroy 3 way Headphones: Grado SR-1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pablolie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55089 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
