No, you need both. The Clux basically taps the HDMI stream. Note that not all PS3's do SACD Any modified SACD player can work. But in this case the "Mod" is external because there is no multi channel DACs in the PS3. The nice thing about the PS3 is that there in no "Bass Management" in the player to muck it up. Most players with analog outputs have bass management. It's difficult to know how to set up the bass management so that the data stays bit perfect. PS3 also allows a way to verify the bitstream is bitperfect which might be difficult on some players. If you are gonna bother going to the trouble to get the higher bit rate you want to be absolutely sure the process of extracting it does not damage it. This is the fellow (Shawn) that did the mod http://www.switch-box.com/Home.html (the clux is not listed on his web page yet). -- mswlogo XP > Cat5 > Transporter > SPDIF > Meridian G68 > DSP6000, DSP5500HC, DSP5000 XP > Cat5 > SB3 > SPDIF > Meridian DSP5000 XP > Cat5 > SB3 > SPDIF > Meridian G91 > DSP5000 'My Transporter Setup' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=350741&postcount=45) 'Hitch Hikers Guide to Meridian' (http://www.meridianunplugged.com) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mswlogo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9090 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55729 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
