No, you need both.

The Clux basically taps the HDMI stream.

Note that not all PS3's do SACD 

Any modified SACD player can work. But in this case the "Mod" is
external because there is no multi channel DACs in the PS3.

The nice thing about the PS3 is that there in no "Bass Management" in
the player to muck it up. Most players with analog outputs have bass
management. It's difficult to know how to set up the bass management so
that the data stays bit perfect. PS3 also allows a way to verify the
bitstream is bitperfect which might be difficult on some players.

If you are gonna bother going to the trouble to get the higher bit rate
you want to be absolutely sure the process of extracting it does not
damage it.
