IMV there is only so much investigating you can do on the www where
audio's concerned, although I agree there is plenty of snake oil and
bullshit out there.

The research only gets you so far, because I don't think anyone
completely understands the human/music interface and so it's difficult
to predict what people can and can't hear.  I wouldn't agree with you
that 'noise' 100dB down is impossible to hear for example.

I also don't think you can judge whether something is worthwhile by its
price tag or the eloquence of its 'scientific' explanation.  I
personally can't understand why anyone would want to spend $300 on a
digital interconnect when all you need is a 75 Ohm coaxial video cable,
properly terminated at each end, although I can understand that
different lengths of that cable might sound different if the S/PDIF
link is less that ideal (which most of them are to a fairly large
degree).
