Pat, The longest cable that was used would be a max of 2m and I recall IMO that it was less good in performance. I have been around since the halcyon days of Analogue High End and have tried all the "black magic" fixes like stick-on dots, paper clips etc and many of the treatments do not work but some really did make a difference to improving sound quality. I remain open minded and will try out ideas and make up my own mind.
Some examples open to debate! 1. Single speaker rooms (one pair only, no switching or multiple speakers, even disconnected ones in the room)made a difference in sound quality. The rational then been the excitation of the other speaker cones in the room would add colourations to the sound. 2. Different cable construction - stranded, multi, solid core, litzed wire all sounded different in interconnects and speaker wires. 3. Directionality of cables 4. Amps sounding different (Valves vs transistor etc) 5. VTA adjustment for phono cartridges 6. Isolation devices for amps and cd players as well as turntable mats, types of speaker stands - mass loaded vs low mass 7. Even green pens, purple mats etc 8. Power supplies and conditioners and perahsp quite a few more that escapes my memory at the moment -- maxrob200 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ maxrob200's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21644 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56712 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
