Then there is something seriously wrong somewhere. Did you check bias etc? I have seen tube equipment from 1963 still working fine on original tubes witout ever being near a power conditioner. Normal EI34 fx tube life is app. 3-4000 hours. I have never heard the statement you gave before, thus, something is seriously wrong somewhere.
