'Fraid so....  there are examples of that in probably every luxury
industry the world has ever known.  Does Rolex use gold or platinum
because it makes their watches keep better time?  Does Diva Vodka
filter their product through a column of precious gems because it makes
it taste better?  Need I go on?

"High-end" audio is about status, pride of ownership, endless debate,
membership in an elite group.  It's also about sound, occasionally.
