Phil, I use FLAC for my SB3 and MP3 CBR 320 for my iPod (20,000 tracks ripped). Another poster recently commented that VBR was superior to CBR at a given bit rate so I recently reset my iTunes to rip at 320 VBR. I would sleep better if I knew there wasn't any (significant) difference between 320 CBR and 320 VBR. For extra credit, what bit rate VBR is within -90dB of 320CBR?
