Just my two cents: I spent the last couple of weeks comparing the
Benchmark DAC1 with the Lavry DA10.
I ended up keeping the DA10 and returning the DAC1. While headphone amp
was quite comparable (the winner kept alternating), I preferred the DA10
as direct to power-amp DAC/preamp: nicer soundstage (the DAC1 felt like
the sound is too much around the center), plenty of details, good bass
(DAC1 has good bass too, IMHO). As always, synergy is a crucial factor,
so this is only how things sounded on my system with MY ears...
Just a clarification regarding the DA10's volume control - it is
analog. It's just that it has digital control.
I was contemplating returning the DA10 for the new DA11 but it's 50%
more expensive and as far as I'm concerned the only really appealing
features are the remote control, mute output (when headphones are used)
and MAYBE the new PIC thing. It just seems like not worth the 50%
addition in price.

My system: SB3 -> DA10 -> Odyssey Stratus -> Eminent Technologies
LFT8b.
