Seeking advice Does changing the bit depth on ones 16.44 flac files make a difference to sound quality?
The reason I ask is that over on the Lavry forums, they recommend setting bit depth at 24bit regardless of what files you are outputting to get best sound quality from ripped CD files through the Lavry DA10 DAC. Apparently there is an option to do this on Macbooks but not aware of this feature within Squeeze centre. My set up in Netgear Duo NAS > Netgear Router > Squeezebox Duet > Lavry DA10 > Naim Supernait > PMC DB1i's with assorted Naim, Atlas, other cabling and Sound Organisation stands. It sounds wicked but I'm an upgrade junky.....so before I mess about with my files I just wondered if anybody had experimented with changing bitrate depths on 16.44 flac files. I'm not a techy so don't understand why this would work - just interested if it does? DBPoweramp has the option to set bitrate up to 32bits in it's DSP settings. Would this make a difference to sound quality on ripped CD files if I did this at 24 bits? -- ste1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ste1's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=23522 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62874 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
