Well if you are talking about 'Bariks...agreed. Modern Linn speakers are reasonably effecient and even more so when driven actively. However, an interesting phenomena comes into play here that is easily proven with an SPL meter. Going active means that at the same volume setting as before there is more sound in the room (less lost in the crossover). However, ones normal listening level tends to increase (you turn the volume a bit higher than before). Presumably(?) this is because the sound is "cleaner" and less fatiguing on the ears so the temptation to get closer to realistic levels is greater... -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...
