Why should the data source second-guess the rate it is being fed? Would you then toggle a multiplier setting on the source whenever you switch between 44.1/48 and 88.2/96KHz material? DACs that provide word-clock output should respond to the clock rate bits that are encoded in the s/pdif meta-data. If they can't do that, at least provide manual settings for all the "supported" rates!
Unfortunately your proposed workaround (using another clock source) defeats the purpose of a word clock connection, which is to confine the clock signal path to the DAC. Clock signals recovered from word clock connections should never be used to actually drive a DAC. -- seanadams ------------------------------------------------------------------------ seanadams's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73025 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
