The thing is that SBS uses WMADEC to transcode wma to flac. It doesn't
use any other part of the Windows Media framework.

I agree it is best to avoid WMA files anyway. 

Thing is, WMA files should just work. I wonder if there is something
odd about Bob's files? - The test file I created using DBPoweramp to
convert a flac file to 24/96 WMA lossless worked fine (xp/7.5)
