Personally, I think you are asking the wrong question. Isn't the question, Why would anybody bother to make a battery powered Transporter? It is fairly easy to make a clean AC power supply with the space that is in the TP. The factory power supply is already very good and I haven't seen any reason to even attempt to upgrade it after taking measurements from it. So from an Audiophile standpoint, it seems like a waste of time and money. It appears to me that your "Specific Need" is not very main stream. Looks like making an SB3 or better yet a display-less Receiver as a battery powered unit. Of course one can always use a Radio which is battery powered, but then we are not talking use for stereo system. Audiophile wise it just doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. The SB3 and Receiver have internal switches after the main DC input do whether one uses a nice Linear PS or a battery, really makes no improvement because of the internal switchers after the battery input. The Transporter is mainly designed for use with full stereo systems of which the majority run from AC mains. -- iPhone *iPhone* Media Room: Transporter, VTL TL-6.5 Signature Pre-Amp, Ayre MX-R Mono's, VeraStarr 6.4SE 6-channel Amp, Vandersteen Speakers: Quatro Mains, VCC-5 Reference Center, four VSM-1 Signatures, Video: Runco RS 900 CineWide AutoScope 2.35:1 Living Room: Duet, ADCOM GTP-870HD, Cinepro 3K6SE III Gold, Vandersteen Model 3A Signature, Two 2Wq subs, VCC-2, Two VSM-1 Kitchen: Squeezebox BOOM Bedroom: Second Boom Bathroom: Squeezebox Radio Ford Thunderbird: Duet, Mac Mini Ford Expedition: SB Touch, USB drive ------------------------------------------------------------------------ iPhone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13622 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76126 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
