Indeed, in a room where there is music, noise and several conversations, you can still listen to a single person speaking and discard all the rest. Same happens with music coming out from speakers and indirect sounds from the listening room : the brain has a great discriminating ability. The sound perceived doesn't appear as bad as it can be when recorded through a microphone.
