The tests are both valid but in different contexts - we are testing
different things.

If my tests were garbage they wouldn't produce the accurate results
that they do. As you know, it's all just maths - or more accurately
it's just "comparing numbers".

Bear in mind that (unless you turn this feature off) RMAA normalises
the signal (back up to -1dB!) during analysis, but it only does this
AFTER the sync tone is identified. The 24dB test fails because the sync
tone is determined to be too low. It does this normalisation in both
live and async modes. The levels only have to be roughly the same ...
roughly turns out to be within 12dB or so!.


Can you remind me what exactly you are using to adjust the analogue
gain in your tests? (as you are keeping the Tascam gain fixed).

Something about your last set of results looks odd... are you sure the
"analog 12dB from 86" test was correct?
