This is how it sounded on my system. Touch was new, with the sticker on
its display.
The level of my disappointment is likely influenced by my expectations
that were very high given rave reports I've read here and on other
forums.

I spent 4 hours yesterday, playing merely 3 different SAME songs (all
of excellent quality, such as Eye In The Sky/Alan Parsons by Classic
Records)
This is what I tested **with friend**, so we verified out findings, and
then listened again and again, to be sure:

* Touch -> analog out -> preamp
* Touch -> RCA dig out -> Transporter -> preamp
* Transporter -> preamp
* Foobar/Vista/Kernel Streaming -> M2Tech HiFace -> BNC dig out ->
Transporter -> preamp
* Olive Symphony -> preamp
